Speech Language Pathology

What is speech language pathology?

Speech-language pathologists identify, assess and rehabilitate children and adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders.

Receiving care in your home

Speech-language pathologists play a crucial role in helping adults and children at home and in the community. Communication problems can occur at any age. These can be both frustrating and demoralizing, affecting an individual's ability to communicate at home, work or school.

Speech-language pathologists also assist with eating and swallowing difficulties. They can help to reduce the risk of aspiration and choking, thereby increasing an individual's safety, nutritional intake and overall enjoyment of eating.
