GetChecked Manitoba Webinar Series

Cancer screening is for people who have no signs or symptoms of the cancer for which they are being tested.  CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) provides population-based screening programs through BreastCheck, CervixCheck, and ColonCheck.  The goal of the screening programs is to save lives by finding cell changes before they turn to cancer or finding cancer early when treatment may work better.

BreastCheck, CervixCheck, ColonCheck and the Saint Elizabeth First Nations, Inuit and Métis Program hosted a webinar series about screening in the autumn of 2014.

The objectives of this webinar series were to:
  • Identify who should be screened, when to start/stop screening, how often to get screened.
  • Outline access to screening.
  • Describe the benefits and risks of cancer screening.
  • Describe the primary operations of each program.
  • Explain the follow-up for both normal and abnormal screening tests.
  • Explain the statistics relevant to each program.
  • Discuss ways to partner to increase awareness and uptake of screening.
  • Provide sources for more information.
  • Outline how to respond to questions about screening.
There were three webinars in this series on Breast, Cervix and Colon Cancer Screening. The recordings of these webinars are available for viewing.  Please click on the title of the webinar to view the recordings.
