Founder, The Charles Taylor Foundation
Noreen Taylor is the founder of the RBC Taylor Prize and Chair of the Board of the Charles Taylor Foundation. She has a lifelong interest in the arts and arts education, first by teaching art and art history, then overseeing the Claude Watson School for the Arts (at Earl Haig Collegiate Institute) as its founding Artistic Director. In recent years her passion for the arts was manifested in her past positions as Chair of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and Canadian Stage. She is a current member of the Board of the National Ballet of Canada as well as a member of the Canadian Curatorial Committee of the Art Gallery of Ontario. Health care is the other driving force that occupies her attention. Following the lengthy care of her husband Charles, she became committed to patient care, first as a community representative for Cancer Care Ontario, then as a force behind the creation of a Palliative Care Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital, and now as Board Chair of Saint Elizabeth, Canada’s largest not-for-profit home care organization. She is currently President of Windfields Farm Limited and Chancellor of UOIT.

Heather McClure was most recently the Senior Vice President Operational Finance, Rogers Communications Inc. Prior to joining Rogers, she was the CFO at Workopolis, a Canadian online recruitment company. She has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector having held CFO positions at WIND Mobile and Virgin Mobile Canada. In addition, she held a number of senior positions at both Bell Canada and Bell Mobility. Early in her career Heather worked in Finance at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton and St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University.

Don McCutchan is an international policy advisor with Gowlings, one of Canada’s leading law firms. Don has extensive international experience working with government and related agencies, including the IMF, the World Bank and the OECD. A former senior official at the Canadian Department of Finance, Don is a director of St. Jerome's University, the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation, and the Couchiching Institute of Public Policy. He is a past president of the Canadian Association of Income Funds, and a former director of Transparency International - Canada, the McMichael Canadian Art Collectio[u2]n and the Empire Club of Canada. Don was educated at the University of Waterloo and University of Toronto.

Dr. Albert Agro has served as the Chief Medical Officer of Cynapsus Therapeutics since August 2010. Since September 2008, Albert has also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of HNZ Strategic Holdings, Inc., a pharmaceutical and biotech consulting firm developing treatments for serious diseases. Prior to this role, Albert was Senior Vice President, Drug Development of TransTech Pharma, a pharmaceutical company, from September 2007 to December 2009. Albert completed his Ph.D. from the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. Albert has been an assistant professor, Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University since September 1996. He is the recipient of a Michael J. Fox Foundation Clinical Scholarship for his work on Apomorphine.

Bill Chambers is the President and CEO of Save the Children Canada. His experience with the organization, combined with his strong personal passion for the mission to make lasting change in the lives of the children, connect him personally and professionally to the role. Prior to this role, Bill was the Vice President, Strategy and Public Affairs for CBC/Radio-Canada where he worked from 2003 to 2015. Bill has also served as Managing Director, Europe for market researcher Goldfarb Consultants and as Vice-President Corporate Affairs for The Molson Companies Limited. From 1981 – 1988, Bill worked in government where, among other things, he served as Chief of Staff to the Foreign Minister. Bill holds a Master of Business Administration from the European School of Management (EAP/ESCP) in Paris, France and a Bachelor of Science from Concordia University in Montreal.

Michael Fullan is the Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto and an ex-officio member of its Board of Directors. He has had extensive experience working with developmentally challenged families and numerous family service agencies. He is very active in his parish and the Archdiocese of Toronto and is an activist of the development in the Catholic community. He holds a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a member of the Ontario Association of Professional Social Workers and of the Ontario College of Certified Social Workers.

Shirlee Sharkey is the President and CEO of Saint Elizabeth, a national social enterprise providing home care, health solutions and education to people where they are and when they need it. Under Shirlee’s leadership, the not-for-profit charitable organization has enjoyed exponential growth and expansion, and facilitated transformative solutions in areas such as Indigenous health, end of life care, and caregiver wellness and support. Today, Saint Elizabeth delivers 20,000 care exchanges daily through its team of 9,000 leaders and professionals. Active in public service, Shirlee is the current Chair of Excellence Canada. Academically, Shirlee is cross-appointed to the University of Toronto’s Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation as an adjunct professor. In 2017, she was presented with an honourary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.

John Stackhouse

John Stackhouse

As Senior Vice President, Office of the CEO at RBC, John Stackhouse is responsible for interpreting trends for the executive leadership team and Board of Directors with insights on how these are affecting RBC, its clients and society at large. Prior to this, John was editor-in- chief of The Globe and Mail (2009-14), editor of Report on Business, the newspaper’s national editor, foreign editor and its foreign correspondent based in New Delhi, India (1992-99). He has authored three books: Out of Poverty, Timbit Nation, and, most recently, Mass Disruption: Thirty Years on the Front Lines of a Media Revolution. John is a Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute and the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs. In the community, John serves on the Board of Directors for Saint Elizabeth, the national committee of the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada and the Ditchley Canada Foundation.

Philip Smith is the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Operations for Scotiabank’s Global Banking and Markets division. He is responsible for the oversight and leadership of all aspects of GBM’s Operations groups and the Finance function. He plays a central role in influencing strategy and shaping the financial direction of the division. Prior to this appointment, Philip held the role of Deputy Head of Global Investment Banking, where he was responsible for the equity capital markets and investment banking activities of Scotiabank, including the coordination of advisory activities. Philip also held a variety of positions within Global Banking and Markets in the Wealth Management, Equity Capital Markets, and Investment Banking areas. Philip holds an MBA in Analytic Finance from the University of Chicago and a BA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University.
