Child & Family Program
At Saint Elizabeth Health Care, we provide high quality, family-centred care based on our commitment to research of child and family issues and the implementation of research/evidence based practice. Our Program is focused on two primary disciplines, Maternal/Newborn Care and Paediatric Care.
Maternal/Newborn
Care is delivered by specialist nurses who understand the unique needs of a specific client population that includes women in high-risk pregnancy situations and newborn infants and their mothers. Types of care provided in this program includes:
- Antenatal home care
- Post-partum and newborn care
- Home Phototherapy (Breastfeeding Support for fragile infants)
Paediatrics
Caring for children involves caring for the whole family. Our paediatric nurses specialize in providing support for families and caring for infants and children diagnosed with:
- Congenital heart disease
- Cancer (symptom management)
- Developmental delays
In addition to a clear child and family-centred care focus, at our paediatric program’s heart is a concentration on the infant/child’s development in the following areas:
- Physiological
- Psychosocial
- Cognitive and motor
Our definition of health is guided by the World Health Organization’s determinants of health and includes physical, intellectual and emotional/social dimensions. Our philosophy of family-centred care is built on the cornerstones of collaboration, information sharing, encouragement and support. At Saint Elizabeth Health Care, we…
