SEHC and Central West CCAC celebrate the opening of nursing care centre in Brampton

June 23rd 2010

BRAMPTON, June 23, 2010 – Clients who may have previously received nursing services at home or in the emergency department can now access care at a new nursing care centre in Brampton. The Central West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), in partnership with Saint Elizabeth Health Care, celebrated today the opening of its second nursing care centre located at 36 Vodden Street, Suite 304.

“The resounding success of our first nursing care centre at Headwaters Health Care Centre prompted us to open a second centre,” explained Cathy Hecimovich, Chief Executive Officer, Central West CCAC. “Clients have told us that they appreciate receiving their medications and services at our conveniently located centres. These care settings allow them to better manage their personal schedules while relieving pressure off hospital emergency departments.”

Staffed by nurses with specialized training, the nursing care centre is intended for mobile clients and offers convenient appointment times for a number of services, including health counselling, intravenous drug treatments, wound management, and catheter removal and insertion. A CCAC case manager connects eligible clients to the nearest Central West CCAC nursing care centre. A physician’s referral is not required to access CCAC services.

“Creating an exceptional client experience for those attending the nursing care centre is a priority for Saint Elizabeth Health Care, and this centre allows us to provide high quality health care on the clients’ schedule”, says Rheta Fanizza, Senior Vice President, Saint Elizabeth Health Care. ”Delivering health care to our CCAC clients in both their homes and in the nursing care centre provides us with valuable insights into how to meet the unique needs of each client.”

In May 2009, Central West CCAC launched its first Nursing Care Centre located at the Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville. Nursing services at the two nursing centres are provided by Saint Elizabeth Health Care, a contracted service provider of the Central West CCAC.
