Markham, ON, December 10, 2008 – A special episode of the flagship current affairs program, Catholic Focus, honouring the 100th anniversary of Saint Elizabeth Health Care (SEHC) will premiere nationally today at 7 p.m. EST on Salt + Light Television, immediately following the brief daily news update. You can also view it online via live streaming at www.saltandlighttv.org (click “View Live” button in the top left corner of the homepage). 

The program, entitled 100 Years of Phenomenal Care: Saint Elizabeth Health Care, is hosted by Salt + Light producer Mary Rose Bacani and features background on the history and origins of SEHC, footage of home care visits, 100th anniversary celebrations, interviews and a studio discussion with Board Chair Michael Decter, President and CEO Shirlee Sharkey and Senior Vice President Nancy Lefebre.

“At the heart of Saint Elizabeth Health Care in Toronto is a remarkable agency that for over 100 years has taken the example of Elizabeth of Hungary and put it into practice,” said Fr. Thomas Rosica, C.S.B., Chief Executive Officer of Salt + Light Catholic Media Foundation. “Our goal in doing this program was to detail and honour Saint Elizabeth Health Care’s contribution to community health care over the past century.”

“Our 100th anniversary has been such a milestone, and the opportunity to work with Salt + Light allowed us to capture and share – in an enduring way – some of the stories and inspirations of clients, staff, volunteers and friends that we will be bringing with us into the next century,” said Shirlee Sharkey, President and CEO of SEHC.
