CEO Shirlee Sharkey recognized by CCHSE for innovative leadership
Markham, ON (July 8, 2010) – Saint Elizabeth Health Care (“Saint Elizabeth”) and the Canadian College of Health Service Executives (CCHSE) are pleased to announce that Shirlee Sharkey, President and CEO of Saint Elizabeth, has received the 2010 Innovation Award for Health Care Leadership.
“I’m a big believer in human ingenuity, in what we can do when we put our heads together and challenge ourselves,” says Sharkey. “And so, my goal for Saint Elizabeth Health Care has always been to go where the system has yet to move. I am extremely honoured to receive the award on behalf of my staff, a team that exhibits incredible passion to enable exceptional care.”
“This Award recognizes the outstanding capabilities and achievements of senior executives who have created cultures of innovation that empower people to make positive change”, advises Ray Racette, President and CEO of the College. “Shirlee has exhibited clear leadership in fostering such an environment with great success.”
Sharkey explains: “Innovation has set this organization on a path of self discovery that has instilled a strong and rich base of knowledge and tools from which to pioneer opportunities for a vibrant and sustainable health care system. It has allowed us to imagine a world where location is irrelevant, where knowledge is seamlessly exchanged and where people feel more involved in their care. Ultimately, it has set our sights high!”
