LCBO stores raise funds for Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation
Toronto, October 28, 2008 - Starting November 1, 2008, the public can make donations
to Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation’s Caregiver Support Program at all 600 LCBO
stores throughout Ontario. Donation boxes for the Caregiver Support Program will be
displayed at LCBO checkout counters until November 30, 2008.
The Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to
raising funds for the advancement of knowledge and charitable initiatives in home and
community care. The Caregiver Support program provides informal (unpaid) caregivers
with the practical skills and supports they need to care for their loved ones at home. In
addition to providing respite or “relief” care free of charge to families in need, the
program also offers counseling and education in areas such as health and stress
management and caregiving instruction.
“We thank the LCBO, its employees and customers for providing this opportunity. The
LCBO’s province-wide store network is a very effective way for us to raise awareness
and funds for our organization,” said Susanne Williams, Chair, Saint Elizabeth Health
Care Foundation.
“We are pleased to partner with the Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation,” says
LCBO Chair Philip J. Olsson. “LCBO’s customers have always responded generously to
worthy causes, and we thank them for providing a positive change in so many people’s
lives.”
Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation is one of 26 provincial and numerous local
charities that will benefit from the LCBO’s province-wide donation box program in 2008.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised annually through LCBO’s in-store donation
box program. In addition, LCBO’s annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government,
which totaled $1.275 billion in fiscal 2006-07, excluding taxes, supports a wide range of
important government programs, services and priorities, including health care and
education.
Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation thanks the public for its support when shopping
at their local LCBO store during the month of November.
